Photographic Memory: fun puzzles, guessing game and memory games are part of the photographic memory enhancement which is related to the development of the right brain. The games get increasingly more challenging as the child get older. This is part of developing the child’s imagination and intuition.

Pool maintenance in winter is different than in than the summer.  When the warm weather starts there are different things you need to do to a pool than when the weather is cold and there is minimal or no use.  Prevention of expensive problems can be achieved by following a few simple guildelines.

Winter

When pool use tapers off and cold weather is coming, put anti-freeze in all the water lines after they are drained.  Make sure the water in the pool is lower than the level indicated for freezing.

A heavy duty cover designed for the pool should be used to keep out debris and leaves and lessen algae growth. A shock treatment with 10 times the customary chlorine is good to do before closing down the pool.   Drain the filter and disconnect the pump. This is a good time to test and clean any ladders, ropes or diving boards before packing away.

Safety

Make the pool safe so that it is not dangerous if small children stroll in during the times when no one is there.

Balance

The most important thing for a well maintained pool is chlorine and swimming pool chemical balance.  This means the accurate amount of chemicals, correct ph and alkaline balance, water movement and cleaning

Spring

1. When it’s time to open the pool again in the spring clean off the pool cover and store it, make sure it is dry.
2. Drain the pipes of anti-freeze
3. Inspect the filters to make sure they are clean.
4. Shock the pool with chlorine (tablets or granules) after filling it to the normal level then scour it with a brush and vacuum it.
5. Filter and vacuum it for a few days to take out any algae that has formed when the pool was not used.
6. To get the maximum effect add the chlorine at night after testing the water to make sure the chorine level is correct and the ph is between 7.0 and 7.6.

Going fishing on a frozen body of water is an Outdoor activity that the whole family can enjoy. The cost is minimal to get fixed up and with knowledge of where to find a place to fish, a first-timer can be expected to have success their first trip on the lake.

The line you use for fishing should be designed for cold water that is associated with ice fishing. The frigid waters can make the line so stiff that it breaks easily. For this reason you will want to be certain and obtain fishing line made for fishing through the ice. Cortland makes a product called Ice Line that is great. The line you buy for ice fishing is the most critical part of your ice fishing gear.

You will also need to get some jigs and lures to go along with your bait. Small jigs are excellent for panfish. Also tear drop jigs and tiny spoons will come in handy when the panfish get finicky. As for bait, panfish love mealworms and spikes while larger fish such as Walleye prefer Worms or baitfish like smelt. Be sure to talk to local fishermen to see what’s they recommend a Beginner use their first time out on the ice.
