If you’re going to cook your steak in the oven then I would seriously suggest that you broil it. I love broiled meat it’s so juicy and tender. Of course only if you don’t over cook it. To me there really is no other way. Broiled steak is delicious.
Set and pre heat your oven to the broil setting and while you are waiting for your oven to preheat rub your steaks with olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper. Depending upon the cut of meat you have purchased if it is a less expensive cut of meat you may want to consider using a different seasoning other than salt such as an Adolph’s meat tenderizer. It tends to darken the meat some but it does give it the same flavor as salt. If you have a good cut of beef then a nice kosher salt will do just fine.
Different size steaks will require different broiling times. Depending upon whether you like your steak raw, medium or well done also plays a role in the cooking process. Whether or not you are cooking one steak or many may also make a difference when broiling your steaks in the oven. Be careful not to under cook your meat becasue of this.
The following are recommended cooking times but keep in mind the different variables that may affect cooking times. If your steak is 3/4 of an inch inch thick and you want your steak medium rare then I would suggest 4-5 minutes per side and if you have a meat thermometer the meat should reach 145 degrees. For a Medium steak 6-7 minutes per side and the meat should reach a temperature of 160 degrees. It is easy to determine when your meat is ready when you use a meat thermometer. Avoid converting a closet located against an outside wall into a wine cellar. From season to season the other walls of your home may be subject to wide temperature fluctuations. Ideally, choose an internal closet where your wine will be able to be stored at a more constant temperature.
The speed and degree of any temperature changes are critical in successfully storing and aging wine. A gradual change of a few degrees between summer and winter won’t matter. A similar change each day will certainly cause harm to your wines by ageing them too quickly.
The major rule when you are storing your wine is to avoid wide fluctuations in temperature. Damage of this type will be evident immediately from the stickiness that often forms around the capsule. Over time the continual expansion and contraction of the wine will damage the integrity of the cork. It’s just like having the cork removed and replaced every day. When this occurs, tiny quantities of wine may be pushed out along the edge of the cork – between the cork and the neck of the bottle – allowing air to seep back in. Absinthe Green Fairy
Green Fairy Absinthe is an alcoholic drink with an interesting history. A very famous and at the same time very controversial drink in todays time it was initially developed in the 18th century as a mere tonic.
Absinthe is an anise flavored spirit which is incredibly strong, between 45 and 75% Alcohol by volume. It is emerald green in color, hence the name “Green Fairy” or in French “La Fee Verte”.
