Deciding Between Upright And Chest Freezer
Ah, a question that just about everyone asks themselves when looking at freezers. Lets talk about some things you should bear in mind. You should know that chest freezers are taking more floor space than uprights, sometimes even two times more. You decisionwill surely be affected with this, if you are living in an apartment.
Another thing, while it is true that you can stack stuff on top of a chest freezer, it’s really not convenient. The idea of stacking stuff on the freezer will look very bad to you after you have to remove all sorts of junk you have been piling there for weeks, just to get to one frozen pizza you wanted to eat on one sunny day.
On the plus side, a chest compact freezer generally costs less initially, usually is more energy efficient, and usually provides more actual freezer space for your dollar than uprights. When they are fully loaded and you need to find certain item is when the problem starts. Swimming through a frozen chest freezer that induces negative self-talk and frustration is not much of a joyride. I’ve done it more than once, even after I thought I had clearly marked everything. More than once I’ve had my feet in the air while my numb fingers shuffled through frozen peas and beef roasts. Appliances never gave so much bad vibes as this does. In freezer space no one can hear you scream. No one besides your dear family, who will observe the action from the distance and laugh themselves silly.
Upright compact freezers have several important advantages over chest freezers. Like I said before, you will fill them easier and you can find items a whole lot more easier. You normally don’t need to rummage too much when trying to find that pork roast you bought in November. Advantage is that many uprights have auto defrosting ability. Big number of chest freezers are made to be manually defrosted, and even if it is a task you should do once per year, it is a very boring procedure that lasts for hours.
No matter what option you choose, it is important that you keep it safe. A freezer can last for a long time if you do it right.
