Developing Bonsai Trees Is A Relaxing Hobby
Bonsai
Watching bonsai trees develop and shaping them into amazing living works of art is a fascinating and extremely rewarding pastime. Growing bonsai trees is not an expensive pastime with few specialist tools being required, but a magnificant bonsai tree can be much more of a centrepiece in your home than many an expensive ornament. A bonsai is a true living sculpture.
Bonsai are pot grown trees that are grown to be a miniature of of the full sized tree. Bonsai trees are created from almost any perennial wood stemmed trees or shrubs that grow branches and can grow small through container confinement with the help from root and crown trimming.
A Bonsai tree can be developed from seed, young shoots taken from the wild, (please observe any local laws in respect of taking wild plants or trees in your region), or can be bought as mature grown bonsai. Obviously growing bonsai from seeds is the slowest route, but you do then have total control over how your bonsai will develop.
Bonsai are planted in pots that not only contain root development, but also further enhance the beauty of your bonsai tree. Specialist soil mixtures can be bought that give you the ideal conditions for your bonsai to grow in.
Many specialist methods are employed to shape and give unique character to your bonsai tree including trimming leaves, wiring branches, grafting, short term dwarfing and deadwood, (a method of aging bark). Only a few specialist tools are required to sculpt bonsai trees, and these are readily available very cheaply. Everything you require to get started can be easily purchased from a specialist bonsai nursery.
Bonsai can be had as indoor and outdoor varieties, many bonsai trees are best if left outside in the summer and then grown inside in the winter months.
For anyone that likes the idea, but would rather not get involved in growing bonsai, you can purchase artificial bonsai.
If you wonder if growing bonsai trees is right for you, I say have a go, bonsai trees are easy to grow and maintain, take very little of your spare time, every bonsai is individual, and who can’t help but to admire a bonsai whenever they see one.
