LOL – X-Ray Vision, A Funny Card Trick
I found this little card trick on a funny blog. Really cool to use this at parties to break the ice.
Ok, let’s learn some easy card tricks. This is a kids magic trick. Why learn something intended for kids? Because kids have more fun than grown ups and we Very should learn from what they do more often.
Let’s get into the meat. Today’s trick is named:
The X-Ray Vision Card Trick
!! Before you read on, go find a deck of cards. You will learn this trick faster and you will actually remember it. Believe me on this.
Don’t hop over the above paragraph.
Ok, now that you’ve got your pack of cards:
Phase 1. The first thing you do is place all the club cards in the deck in a lowest to highest order. Looking at the bottom the ace of clubs should be the first card you see. Then the two of clubs, then the three etc.
!! Make this preparation ahead of time.
Phase 2. Introduce the trick and get your friend to choose a card besides the bottom clubs.
sample: “Ok audience_member_name let us do some magic. Pick a card, no, pick another, you can’t have that one (in case he/she selects from among the clubs).”
TIP: An option that you have to avoid people choosing from among the clubs is to take two thirds of the pack and have your audience member choose from among those. You would then just place it back on top of the deck.
Phase 3. Place the chosen card on top of the deck and cut the deck until there is a clubs on the bottom.
sample: “Ok, now cut the deck. Now you cut the deck. And YOU” (repeat this until you see a club card on the bottom)
NOTE: if you practice this trick once or twice you will get a feel of when you got to the clubs and so you will not have to peek to see if you’re there yet.
Phase 4. Once you see a club card on the bottom, make a note of it. In our example the club card you will see is the eight of clubs.
sample of what you would say: “So tell me. Do you believe in magic. YES/NO. Using my telekinetic powers I can tell you that your card is the eighth card from the top.”
TIP: while you are saying this you have cassually observed the number of the club card (again in our example this is the 8 of clubs).
Phase 5. Deal the first 7 cards face down and turn over the 8th one. It will be the chosen card.
ex: “Explain that then. Let me show you another one just to show you that this is really magic.
If you didn’t understand how this trick functions, just follow the steps one by one and actually use a pack of cards. It will become very clear.
