The Benefits Of Children Participating In Sport
I am the very proud parent of a nine year old boy and like no doubt all parents I want the best for my son. In this article I will be writing about his experiences with being involved with team sport and how it has helped him to become a more rounded person.
When my son first went to school he was some what of a shy child; I was also quite shy and quiet as a child but this was mainly due to the fact that I had a stuttering problem – my son however is able to speak fluently.
I am a person who loves to play and watch a variety of sports and my son has seemingly enjoyed kicking a football around for as long as he has been able to walk. At the age of seven he joined a local football team; at this age they played seven a side. He was rather quite and shy around the other players when he first joined the club but this had been fully expected by me and his mum. When he went onto the pitch to play the game he would just change straight away and would turn into this dominating character.
As previously stated he is now nine years of age and has therefore been a member of this team for the last two years. Rather than being the quiet and shy one the football coach now often struggles to shut him up. Being a part of a team has massively helped his self-confidence, it has helped his discipline and it has also helped his fitness.
It is a great thrill to watch my boy play football in the games; unfortunately I am not able to make it to every match as I work selling a natural beauty products and I also work at an egg donation clinic on a part-time basis.
During the last two years he has joined a further two clubs, one for cricket and one for table tennis. These associations are again aiding in his social skills and a once shy boy is now a person who is very much self-assured, happy and content. He is also not obese which can not be said for a lot of the children who are at his school.
